Description

Hey, comfort seeker! This Hearty Turkey Chili is your foolproof answer to chilly nights, game days, or when you just need a big bowl of yum. Smoky, protein-packed, and bursting with flavor, it’s got three beans, tender turkey, and a splash of wine for that secret depth. Bonus: it’s all done in ONE pot, in about 40 minutes. Cozy, easy, and even better the next day — what’s not to love?

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs 93% lean ground turkey

  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

  • 1 can each: kidney, pinto & black beans (15 oz, drained & rinsed)

  • ½ cup diced yellow onion

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • ¼ cup red wine (or ¼ cup beef broth + 1 tsp balsamic)

  • 2 tbsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp each: cumin, dried parsley, oregano

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 2 dried bay leaves

  • Olive oil

Instructions

1️⃣ Sauté Base: In a large pot, heat oil over medium. Add onion & garlic; sauté 3–4 min.
2️⃣ Brown Turkey: Add turkey, break it up, cook until no pink remains (5–7 min).
3️⃣ Add Wine: Pour in wine, scrape up browned bits, simmer 2 min.
4️⃣ Build Flavor: Stir in tomatoes, sauce, beans, spices & bay leaves.
5️⃣ Simmer: Reduce heat, simmer uncovered 30–40 min, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
6️⃣ Finish: Remove bay leaves. Taste & adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with toppings!

Notes

✨ Add lime juice or vinegar at the end if flavor feels flat.
✨ For thicker chili, mash some beans with your spoon.
✨ Freezes beautifully — portion for cozy grab-and-heat meals!
