Description

Let’s turn your kitchen into a New Orleans flavor party! This foolproof Cajun Rice is bold, buttery, and packed with smoky spice, sweet peppers, and fluffy jasmine rice. Perfect alongside blackened shrimp, tucked into tacos, or devoured straight from the pot. Grab your skillet—we’re stirring up some Southern soul!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or bacon grease for smoky vibes)

  • 1 tbsp butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)

  • 1 small yellow onion, diced

  • ½ cup bell peppers, diced (mix of red & green)

  • 1 cup jasmine rice (rinsed)

  • 2 cups chicken or veggie broth

  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (or homemade blend*)

  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  • Sauté Base: Heat oil & butter in a deep skillet. Add onions & peppers, cook 5 mins, stirring.

  • Toast Rice: Add rice & Cajun seasoning. Stir 2 mins until rice edges turn translucent.

  • Broth Bath: Pour in broth, scrape pan bottom, adjust salt if needed. Bring to boil.

  • Simmer Magic: Cover, reduce to low heat, cook 15 mins (no peeking!).

  • Fluff & Finish: Let sit 5 mins covered, then fluff with fork. Toss in fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • For less heat: start with 2 tsp Cajun seasoning.

  • Want protein? Add shrimp or andouille sausage during cooking.
